The 2016 Grizzly
|
The 2016 Grizzly was the car we built and tested. It consisted of a 40cm by 15cm piece of wood, CD's, dowels, rubber bands, excesses pieces of wood, a couple of nails and screws, some copper wire, PVC pipe, and hot glue.
My group consisted of Me, Andrew, Rebecca and AAron. Aaron was pretty much in charge but he had trouble with getting his ideas across. Which ended up with everyone getting different images of the car. And because of that we got kinda delayed....but we sorted things out we all we had left to do was get the car to go five meters.....thts where we weren't so strong either. The car would go like 4 meters and it can go five just not reliable....and we couldn't get it done by the presentation. |
Our presentation and calculations are in the google slide above
Concepts Used
Elastic potential energy- potential energy stored from a deformation of an elastic object( spring, rubberband, slinky etc.) as its stretching. It's formula is PE(Elastic)=0.5K(XX), where X=the distance moved by the elastic material. PE(Elastic) is measured in Joules.
Spring constant- measure of how easily a spring is compressed and expanded, this is calculated using K=F/d. It is measured in Newton Meters, and a higher number means it is harder to pull.

ReflectionI think this project went very well after the first build day.We had some problems but I liked how me and my group handled them. I feel like I could have contributed more by being more of a leader and putting some of my ideas out there instead of just staying quiet. I think i improved from the last project on work ethic and collaboration. Instead of asking what I needed to complete I would think what can i do that would my team and me.... overall I think this project would go in the books as a succes,
